I park the car along the sidewalk, it’s only a ten minute drive from my house but getting out of there is already making me feel better.

“Come on little man, let’s go for a walk.” I attach the leash to his collar and we get out of the car.

We take the footpath along the lake; it’s so peaceful here. I can’t believe I haven’t taken Charlie here before.

There are other dogs here, but I don’t see other red and white border collies; they are always white and black. I guess my little man is special.

We move at our own pace walking along the park. Charlie stops every now and then to smell the grass or flowers. It’s all new smells to him.

I see a seat up ahead and I decide to sit down, there isn’t that many people around so I decide to let Charlie off the leash. I know he won’t wander too far without me.

He’s sitting there wagging his tail. He can’t wait to run off on his own. When the click on his lead comes undone, he’s off and running around the park, chasing the butterflies in the grass and the ducks along the lakeside. He looks happy and free.

I think back to the conversation I had with Alex. I hope he doesn’t drop everything to go to his brother again. Especially this close to our wedding day, I may never forgive him if he does.

I guess he has a sense of responsibility to Damon and to his father’s company to do the right thing, but a phone call will work for now.

I never take my eyes off Charlie. He comes back to me to show me that he’s found a large stick. I throw it and he is so excited to go run after it and bring it back again. We are playing fetch with his stick.

It’s kinda cute.

When Charlie has had enough of running around the park, he plops down at my feet and stares at me.

Yeah, I think it’s time to go home.

“Let’s go home, we will come back another day. I promise.” I put the leash back on his collar and walk us to my car.

When we reach the car, there is a white envelope on my windshield, that’s odd.

I go around and take it off; there is no name on it.

I open it up and inside there are photos. At first they look like people in public places but then I take a closer look and I’m shocked.

What the fuck?

I quickly skim through at least twenty photos and the images are burned into my brain.

There are photos of my parents at a café, photos of Seth walking the streets with Jackie, there’s even photos of Reece at work and Steph at home. Then there are photos of Alex in London, photos of me at the hospital, which were only taken yesterday.

I can’t believe my eyes.

Someone is stalking me.

I look back in the envelope and there’s a note.

“I’m watching you and everyone you love.
